We are pleased to announce the publication of our research report ‘Wetlands and Construction’ by Material Cultures and Bauhaus Earth in collaboration with Experimental. This report explores the importance of rewetting peatlands in Brandenburg and the potential for wetlands to provide the region with carbon negative construction materials. Using the Sernitzmoor area in Brandenburg as a case study, we examine how a land practice that promotes peatland carbon capture and the decarbonisation of the construction sector could be implemented at scale to deliver climatic, environmental, and economic benefits.
The publication is a result of the project ‘Constructive Land Berlin/Brandenburg’ as part of the Bauhaus Earth Fellowship Program (BE-FELLOW) in collaboration with Experimental.
You can download the report here or order your own paperback on Lulu.com!
Our gratitude goes especially to Greifswalder Moorzentrum, the city of Angermünde, Evolving Forests, Hanffaser Uckermark eG., Helga Blocksdorf and PFHAU Greiffenberg.
